Delta’s Tech Outage Causes Chaos and Frustration for Passengers

This week, Delta Air Lines experienced a global tech outage that resulted in widespread disruption and frustration for passengers. The airline paused its unaccompanied minors program during this period, leaving many children stranded in different states across the country. One loyal Delta customer, J.R. Reed, was forced to buy a ticket and travel to pick up his children who were stuck in various airports. Similar tales of inconvenience have emerged as Delta lags behind other airlines in recovering from the meltdown. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has launched an investigation into the matter, and estimated that over 500,000 passengers were affected. Delta CEO, Ed Bastian, has apologized for the disruptions and attributed the problem to a computer program error. Passengers have also reported missing baggage, and many are dissatisfied with the airline’s handling of the situation. Delta has pledged to compensate affected customers with meal vouchers, hotel accommodations, transportation, Delta SkyMiles, and travel vouchers.
